Advocacy, that is creating awareness on the issues of population ageing is an important field in which ILC-I has been working for quite some time now. One such issue of population ageing, which is very critical to the holistic well-being of the elderly is Health and Health Care of the elderly!
Towards that objective, ILC-I organized a two days’ workshop on “Medical Occurrences and Occupational Therapy in the Elderly” on the 5th and 6th of March 2019 with the support of Gharda Chemicals Ltd.
This workshop aimed at creating awareness amongst the elderly on the importance of age-appropriate physical and mental exercises for their effective functioning and also to provide information on important but less-known medical issues in the elderly of India, like poly-pharmacy, adult vaccination and occupation therapy.
The workshop also sought to make the elderly understand how regular physical and medical exercises have a positive impact on their cognition/cognitive health, and how these learnt exercises could be applied in the occupation of daily life such as work, self-care and leisure.
